Point Blank Sound Design Tutorial Series: What is a LFO?
We’re back with a brand new tutorial series to help you get the most out of your productions. In this series, Point Blank course developer and instructor Chris Carter will be showing us the basics of sound design, focusing on different elements of synthesis and going into detail as to how they work and how they can be applied. These videos will give you a flavour of what to expect on our courses, such as our comprehensive BA (Hons) Music Production and Sound Engineering degree, which is also available as an online degree. In the first episode of the series, Point Blank expert instructor Chris Carter answers the question ‘what is an LFO?’ describing the differences between oscillators and low-frequency oscillators, discussing the frequency spectrum and sharing some tips on how to use LFOs effectively. In the video, Chris uses Logic Pro X’s ES2 synthesiser and Native Instrument’s Massive to demonstrate LFOs in use, achieving vibrato/tremolo effects and much more. Watch the video for the full tutorial and stay tuned for the next in the series!
